So, the summer is just flying by here. It's hard to imagine that in a few short days it will be July already. I know many of you are super busy, like myself, with kids, and sports, and camps, and vacation. Who has time to think about portraits??

I hope you do. Here are some blog specials for the month of July.

Share the Love: Only for the month of July. Share a session with someone. You split the session fee and still get all the fabulous images to choose from. Right now when you do a Share the Love session, each family will receive a complimentary 8x10 print of your favorite image.

Maternity: I know it's hot, and you feel like you are as big as a house. But, you are beautiful pregnant ladies. If you are between 32 and 36 weeks, e-mail me for a complimentary maternity session. Included in your session will be a complementary 5x7 print of your favorite image.

Newborns: For newborn babies under 14 days of age, enjoy using your entire session fee as a print credit. That's right, up to $200 worth of prints. Please contact me as soon as you can for these sessions so I can fit you into my schedule.

First off Happy Belated Father's day to all the dads out there. Father's Day this year was also my 12 year wedding anniversary. We had a good day. I hope you all did, too.

I have a little bit of news that is exciting. I have been accepted into the fantastic organization Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep. You can check out their website by clicking on the link. They are a fantastic organization that strives to give back when families suffer the loss of an infant or child. I am honored to be a part of this.

Also my little lady is about to turn 4 years old. No more babies in this house. It's hard to believe, but true.

She is all My Little Pony and mermaids right now.

In honor of the girl's big day, I would like to have a girly girl, princess portrait party. What I need is a hostess. I don't do portrait parties very often, so this is a very exclusive thing. We had the most fun day at the park with these girls. They were not afraid to get dirty...or wet!! I love that. We had such a blast. We even got to see baby ducks. That was so cool.

I know I haven't been the best about updating this. It's not for lack of business. I took the cutest cap and gown graduation pictures of the 4 year olds at Grace Episcopal Preschool last week. I can't post them here, though, sorry.

It's the end of school the next couple of weeks. I have 3 sessions this week so there should be some great images to show you very soon. I am proofing some others as well.

Mother's Day is May 11th. This year to celebrate all the mother's and grandmother's out there I am offering special Limited Edition sessions the weekend of April 26-27.

These sessions will be mom's or grandma's and kids interaction images only. No dad's or other family members. Keeping it simple with a black and white swirl background, so wear all black or all white.

6 Months old.

I got to photograph sweet baby B when he was just brand new. I can't believe he is 6 months old already. I have to say he is the smilingest, best natured baby I have been around in ages.

6 months is such a great age for portraits. Babies this age are so smiley and sweet and they stay where you put them...mostly.

Well after a few weeks of being difficult, my computer sort of crashed. Don't worry, though, because I did back up all the images. I did, however, loose my e-mail for a few days. I hope to get it back up and working over this coming weekend so please be patient.

Well, I just had to change it because that pink was just a little bit too pink for my tastes. I am finishing up the website and it's quite a bit girl heavy. I need some boy models, badly. Well here was are and it's March finally. I had a productive month and am ready to get back in the swing of things. Provided any major glitches, the new website should be up and running by the end of the week. Think of the blog as a sneak peak of what's to come. ;-)

I already have a couple of sessions on the books for March, but this is the official notice that I am back to scheduling sessions. The time is about to change, it's going to get warmer, and everything is about to turn green and beautiful. Now is the perfect time to get your session on the books and start thinking about things like wildflower sessions.

I have just been working really hard on getting the new website and ordering system up. It's not proving to be as easy as I had hoped. But rest assured I am getting there. (And here I thought I was so tech savvy. ;) )

I would like to announce at this time that I will not be taking clients for most of the month of February. I am taking the time to re-vamp and get everything together and then in March I will re-open with a new look, new collections, and new specialty items. I am so excited about all of this. I can't wait to show you all.

I will have 2 weekday sessions left open before I take the break. I will offer these 2 sessions for only a $65 session fee to the first 2 people who contact me. AND as a special Valentine present to you I will throw in 2 5x7 prints from each session. (a $40 value).

Don't you just love this???? She makes me wish I had my own giant lammy to snuggle up on. Especially on a cold day like today.

Oh wow. I got to photograph this sweetie when she was just a tiny thing. Now here she is a bit bigger with bit more and a LOT more energy.

What a doll baby. She had a ball at the park, but was pretty tired when we were done.

American Girls

It's not all that often that I get to do a session with 'big girls'. By big girls I mean bigger than babies and toddlers and smaller than seniors.

Gosh, They have so much personality and are just so camera friendly. I love it.

Now, I only have one girl, and she falls in the toddler area. I truly believe my husband would never sleep at night if I had 3 beautiful girls like this.

Wow. Who stinks at updating her blog??? Sorry everyone. It's not for my lack of thinking about it. Too bad thinking about it and blogging in my head doesn't mean it actually happens. To say I have been busy the past few weeks would not even do it justice.

Look at this crisp, beautiful fall day. How blessed we have been to have such great weather this fall. I don't expect it to last much longer, but it sure has been nice.

So October is over and it's on to November, can you believe that?? I can't. There are only a couple of weeks left to get portraits made in time for Holiday delivery. I only have a few openings left so call me asap.

I can't believe the month is half way over. The sessions I have for the entire month of October are almost totally booked. I have two opening for a weekday session in the next 2 weeks. That is all I have for the rest of October. Please contact me if you are interested. If you book today or tomorrow I will take $15 off your session fee.

Also I know I say that word of mouth is my best advertising, and now I would love to give some of that word of mouth back. Last week I had my hair done at Razzmatazz Salon in Georgetown. It was a great experience and Laura was beyond fantastic!!! So if you need a new doo before your photo session, or maybe some rocking color, go see Laura at Razzmatazz and tell her Stephanie sent you. I love my hair and I love my new color.

And on a last note I am thinking of maybe doing one more last minute mini sessions the first weekend in November, say the 3rd if you just want something quick for holiday cards. I am now a member of the PPA. The Professional Photographers Association. They are an organization dedicated to bringing you the finest quality portrait photographers. It's great because there is more education in photography for me and a lot of other things that can benefit me and all my wonderful clients.

This is what it's all about for me. Newborn babies. Hands down newborns are the hardest and yet more rewarding subjects to photograph.

It's just amazing, because they are so tiny, and new, and fresh. They will never, ever be this little again.

Mini session announcments.

Here are the details on the holiday mini sessions. There will be 2 Saturdays set aside solely for these mini sessions. The dates are

Saturday, September 22: Sessions held from 9:30-12. (5 sessions total) At Berry Springs Park.
Saturday, October 6th: Sessions held from 9:30 to 11:30. (4 sessions total) Location still being decided.

Sessions will be 20 minutes each. You will be shown 10-12 finished images in an online gallery. The cost of the mini sessions will be $125 and you will receive a $50 print credit and 8 wallet prints (of the same image).

I expect that these mini sessions will book up fast, since only 9 are available and these are the ONLY mini sessions I will be offering this year. Please contact me at stephanie@srevellphoto.com for full detail information and to book your session.

Ok, the time is here to talk about the holidays and some other business stuff.

If you want to book a session, and receive your images in time for Christmas, your session MUST take place by the second week of November. If you plan to order specialty items, such as canvasses, coffee table books, purses, etc, they take a bit longer. Please keep those things in consideration when thinking about booking a portrait session for the holidays.

Book any session by Sept 14th and you will receive 10% off your entire print purchase.

I have some new announcements about some big changes coming soon. So keep checking the blog. I will be announcing 2 mini session dates, the only ones I will be holding this year. They will be VERY LIMITED and only announced here on the blog. I will also be announcing a new pricing structure with special collections, print credits, and incentives. I am very excited about it, and I can't wait to share it with you.

So, first off let me say, this is my 100th post to this blog. Woo Hoo. So to celebrate, the next person who books a session will receive a special leather mini album with their session. Just mention the 100th blog special when we talk.

I know everyone is getting ready for next week's back to school. What a better way to celebrate back to school than with a great Senior session. This was my first Senior session and I loved it. We had so much fun.

It doesn't hurt that I had a fun and fantastic model to work with. Hannah was great, and so easy on the camera. It was fantastic just driving around to all the different places and seeing all the different 'looks' we got to capture. This is for sure what photography should be about. Having a great time and getting some fabulous images.

Hello everyone. Just kicking it into gear as school is about to start and I have a few things for you to be thinking about.

CHRISTMAS!!!!!

I know, I know. Really? You want me to think about Christmas in August? Well I do, because sessions for the holidays are booking right now and they are filling up fast. The deadline for Christmas guarantee delivery is the second week of November. Specialty items such as canvases, coffee table books, custom photo bags, and jewelry can take up to 10 weeks to order. I know that people usually wait all year and only get family portraits made for the holidays. So book now, because I don't want you to miss it.

Also, just so you know how much I love my clients, did you know that returning clients receive $50 off their session fee? It's true. Just a little treat for my special families that I love so much.

I hope you are all done with your back to school shopping. That way you can take a few days to relax and enjoy your kids before they go back to school.

Aren't they sweet? It stopped raining just long enough to get these shots and then it started raining again.

It looks like the weather is caliming down a bit. Finally. What a crazy summer it has been.

Now it's time to start thinking about back to school. Also as early as it seems it's time to start thinking about Christmas pictures. September and October have already started booking. They are usually the busiest months for me and they book up fast. Ans this year, especially with the weather being as crazy as it is, it's probably a good idea to plan ahead.

Wow I have been really bad at keeping up with this lately. There is a good reason though. I am trying very hard to make a dedicated blog that is integrated into of the Photography by Stephanie Revell website. Here I thought I was so tech savvy and this has me super confused and banging my head against the wall. Oh well. I will keep going here until I get it perfected. Let's just say it could take awhile. ;-)

So for now I am sticking with what I know. LOL. Sounds like a plan, huh?

Wow. Mother Nature

After having no power all night and morning, we walked around Georgetown to survey the damage. It's just crazy, this weather.

This is the lake. Remember last year when there was NO water in it??

This is the San Gabriel River. It was so angry and loud. Very scary stuff. This morning we drove through the park. I can't even tell you how much of a mess our beautiful park is. :(

I hope you are all keeping safe and dry. I would also like to caution you all to be on the lookout for snakes. We know of two instances in the past week alone where friends' dogs have been bitten by rattlers. They don't like they wet, and they have been displaced from their homes, and let's just say they are not happy at all. It just can't hurt to give your kids 'the snake talk' and keep an extra eye out. Stay safe and dry everyone.

I have been not so patiently waiting for these beautiful new petticoats I ordered to arrive. Well, they are finally here and I can't get over how gorgeous they are. Ok, I finally have some dates for these. The dates will be Monday June 25th (on the Georgetown square) and Thursday, June 28th (still to be determined). The first session will be at 7 p.m, because of the heat. Please contact me as soon as possible because these sessions are very limited and will fill up fast.

These urban mini sessions will be fresh, funky, and fun. Wear trendy clothing and just be yourself.

Session fee will be $60 for up to 2 people and then $10 for each additional person up to 4 people. Since these are minis large groups will not be able to be accommodated. Sessions will be about 20 minutes with an online gallery of 10-12 images shown.

Pregnancy is such a wonderful time. And even though any woman who has been pregnant will tell you that it feels like it lasts forever, it really goes by so very fast. This was sun a fun, easy session. A lot of women ask me about maternity sessions and are concerned about 'baring skin.' Even though I love a natural look, you never have to do anything that you are not comfortable doing. There are tons of ways to make expectant mommies feel beautiful.

Right now I am a 1/2 price newborn session for anyone who books a maternity session. Why not capture this moment before it's gone?

Summer mini sessions.

Announcing summer mini sessions. In the month is June, I will be doing 2 separate mini session days. These mini sessions will be VERY limited. I am only going to accept 4-6 clients per day, with a total of 8-10 mini sessions.

The first set will be in the afternoon and set in the Georgetown Square. I will be using the fantastic old buildings and just the whole 'square feel' as a backdrop. There is some great stone walls and old ironwork out there. I can't wait for these. They will be so trendy and fun.

The second set will be determined by how many inquires I get and what you all want. I may be open to doing the second session on the square, or a park or another location.

Here's the information:

Mini session fee will be $60. This includes a 20 minute session and an online gallery of 10-12 images. I will make a couple of special packages and you can always buy standard a la carte prints as well.

Ahhhh, newborns.

I could tell you how much I love photographing newborns, and I still don't think I could convey how much I truly love it. They are so new, and beautiful, and wonderful. It always amazes me because you truly do forget with your own kids that they were ever really that tiny.

Just a word on newborns. I can't stress enough to call me as early as possible for newborn sessions. These tiny, curly, squished up sleepyheads only stay that way for a very short time. Days, in fact. I really try to encourage parents to do the newborn session in the first 2 weeks of baby's life. I know it's hectic, and things kind of feel crazy when you bring a new baby home. You get tired and before you know it, weeks have passed. If you plan to have a newborn session, please contact me near the end of your pregnancy, if at all possible. If that is not possible, then within the first few days of being home is ideal.

I will always try my best to fit in newborns, because I love them so very much. However, sessions are very limited and usually I am booked 2-3 weeks out. I would hate for you to miss out on this fleeting chance to capture the newness of your new baby.

Newborn sessions typically last 2-3 hours or however long it takes to get that perfect shot. Sometimes it can be a little messy, but believe me it is SO worth it.

One of the best things about on location photography, especially with newborns, is the comfort level of being in your own environment, on your own schedule. We can work around feedings and changes, or whatever needs to be done. We can also implement pieces of you and your family, such as your home and baby's nursery into your session.

A windy day at Southwestern

I drive past Southwestern University several times a week. I have always wanted to go explore it but never had time or a real excuse to do it. I have to say I am so impressed. It's BEAUTIFUL, and if this is what it looks like in February, can you imagine what it will look like come April?

Big families are always a fun challenge. especially when you have an energetic 2 year old. (Hey. That sounds like MY family!) It was all good fun, though.

So here we are. Already one month into 2007. It's almost February. I love February for a lot of reasons. One of them being that my middle son's birthday is Valentine's Day. How sweet is that? He really gets excited about it and thinks that it's his special day. And it is. We always celebrate Valentine's day as a family and make great dinner and have cake.

February also means that spring is just around the corner. Finally we will be coming out of the cold and into the warm, green Texas spring. And you know what that means???

Bluebonnets!!!!!!!!!! And other beautiful Texas wildflowers. I can't wait for that.

But back to February. It's still pretty cool, and still pretty brown. Luckily in Texas we still have nice sun for indoor portraits and we still have enough warm days for maybe a few outside shots as well.

This little lady here is doing her best impression of the Valentine's Fairy. She sure was thrilled to get a lollipop bigger than her head. She was so overwhelmed that she didn't even cry when we took it away from her.

Valentines

I am thrilled this year to be able to offer tiny valentines as a special to all clients who had a session this past year. They are absolutely gorgeous and you will be the talk of everyone you know. They are small folded cards with your images. On the front is a small image, about an inch high.

And on the inside is a bigger image, about 1.5 X 1.5. The cards are printed on beautiful linen cardstock. Envelopes will not be included for these.

Thinking about Valentines Day.

Little girls in red tutus. Little boys in ties. What better give to the ones you love than Valentine's day portraits. I am planning again to do half price mini sessions in the park (weather permitting) the 27th of January. I will have fairy outfits for little girls and try to think of something fun for the boys. Also for the ladies, how about some beautiful, natural portraits of yourself for your hubby or boyfriend for Valentine's day. Ok, so I am a couple of days early. I have a couple of things in the work for the new year and am ready to get started.

The first thing is senior portraits. I know it' s a little early to be thinking about these, but I am looking for a couple of high school juniors who would be interested in being ambassadors for me. You will receive a waived session fee in the spring and some complimentary wallet prints. In turn all I ask is that you share the wallets and your online gallery with your junior peers. There will also be great referral incentives. I will only take 2 juniors from each school in the area, so if you are interested, please let me know.

I am also looking for expectant mothers in the Georgetown area for maternity and mother and baby sessions. I will offer 2 half price sessions in the month of January. It will be first come, first served.

I hope you are all gearing up well for the coming weeks of holiday madness. It's already crazy busy here. Many of you may not know this, but before becoming a stay at home mom of four and then a photographer of your beautiful children, I was a pastry chef. I have a full degree in culinary arts and love to cook and better still, EAT!! In light of Christmas coming, and all the cooking I will be doing, I thought I would share one of my favorite holiday recipes with you all.

Cranberry Walnut Bread.

INGREDIENTS
3/4 cup butter
3 cups white sugar
3 eggs, beaten
6 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon salt
1 1/2 tablespoons baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
2 1/4 cups orange juice
3 tablespoons orange zest
3 cups chopped cranberries
1 1/2 cups chopped walnuts

DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease three 8x4 inch loaf pans.
Blend together butter, sugar and eggs.
Sift together the flour, salt, baking powder and baking soda. Add to wet ingredients, alternating with orange juice.
Mix in the orange rind, cranberries and walnuts. Stir until just combined and pour into prepared pans.
Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
